How to care for your Christmas tree -

Once you’ve chosen your tree, keep it in a sheltered, unheated area such as a porch or garage to protect it from the wind and sun until you are ready to decorate it.
Locate your tree away from drafts and heat sources such as heating vents, fireplaces, radiators and television sets.
Don’t use outdoor lighting on your tree. Only use mini-lights which generate little if no heat.
Plain old tap water is all that is needed. Christmas trees don’t appear to do any better when given distilled water or mineral water to drink.
Water daily. The tree stand should be rinsed with a capful of bleach and some water before inserting the tree. This reduces the growth of micro-organisms that can block the trees ability to take up water.
Keep the tree stand filled with water.
